Donor Compatible Blood Types

Are you wondering if you would be a donor match? Well the first thing they check is blood type. Dylan is A+. So, if your blood type is O-, O+, A-, or A+, you could be a match. There are other important factors that the doctors consider. Probably the most important are age and health. I'm 68 and have A- blood type, but not a first choice because of my age. Do you have diabetes, or are you overweight. Those will probably disqualify you too. Darcie was the perfect donor five years ago because she was young and incredibly fit. She still is, even with one kidney. There is another option called Kidney Paired Donation, Kidney Exchange or Kidney Swap. We'll explain that program in a future post.

The YNH Living Donor referral line is 1-866-925-3897. Even if you're not a blood type match, you can call and speak to a representative. The call is confidential per HIPPA. If you call, be sure to say you're calling for Dylan McBeth.
